This month we follow up on using flower essences as a Practice theme. I would like to brig your attention to Foxglove flower essence - found in the Garden and Herb Kit.
Is there sensory perception that extends beyond the mind? We often hear about "seeing with the heart," but what does that really mean? While the heart is a muscle, it houses a nerve complex known as the cardiac ganglion, connected to the sympathetic nervous system. This simple fact reveals something profound: the body contains more nerve cells outside the brain than within it.
This suggests that the brain may not be our only organ of perception. Consider the gut feeling—that familiar sensation in your stomach when something doesn't feel right. This is perception without thought, evidence of our ability to sense and understand through the body itself. We have multiple "organs of perception," yet our society has trained us to rely almost exclusively on the mind.
The brain is remarkable, but we may be overusing it as our sole decision-maker. In doing so, we filter reality through beliefs and values—many of which are simply remnants from our early years, no longer serving who we've become. These filters shape our perception so thoroughly that we unconsciously prove our limiting beliefs to ourselves every day. While structure and limits are necessary for growth, they can also constrain something fundamentally unlimited: our true perception.
What if we released some old beliefs to make room for new ones? Learning to shift awareness from the mind to the heart is a transformative practice. Try it: place your attention on your heart and notice what it feels like to perceive from this space. You may experience comfort, relaxation, or simply a quiet mind. This simple act reconnects us to our whole body, restoring us to wholeness.
Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) has long been valued for supporting heart health—a tradition dating back to folk herbalism and the wisdom keepers of old. In modern flower essence therapy, foxglove flower essence is known as a remedy for "going beyond thinking." It gently eases mental patterns and habitual thought structures, helping you reconnect with your heart's knowing.
This essence invites us to question what we've been taught—that the mind alone holds all answers. The heart speaks in a language older and deeper than thought. As you practice accessing this wisdom, you begin to trust it, valuing it as you would a key that unlocks doors to frontiers you never knew you could reach.
"Foxglove opens you step by step to higher realms beyond thinking."
